Born in Buriram Province, Thailand, at the advice of a prosperity fortune teller she legally changed her name to Lalisa, which means “the one being praised.” She began dancing at the very young age of four. Regular performances in dance contests including To Be Number One led to her joining the group We Zaa Cool. In 2009, they won the Special Team Award at the LG Entertainment Million Dream Sanan World competition.

Moreover, the lead single Pink Venom became the first song by a Korean group to reach number one on Australia’s ARIA Singles Chart and the first by a girl group to reach number one on the Billboard Global 200. Blackpink is one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, with 40 billion streams and 20 million records sold worldwide.
Solo Career
Her 2021 debut single album Lalisa made her the first female artist to sell 736,000 copies of an album in its first week in South Korea. The album’s second single Money charted in the top ten of the Billboard Global 200, at the time breaking the record for the longest-charting song by a female K-pop soloist on the US Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart. Lalisa and Money also became the first album and song by a K-pop solo artist to reach one billion streams on Spotify, respectively. In 2024, she formed her own management company Lloud, signing with RCA Records. Her first single Rockstar topped at number one on the Billboard Global 200 Excluding US, and was the lead single on her solo debut studio album Alter Ego (2025).
So far, her accolades include nine Guinness World Records, being the most-followed K-pop artist on Instagram, and the most-followed female K-pop soloist on Spotify. Not to be outdone, she has been honored as a cultural ambassador leader by the Thailand Ministry of Culture along with being acknowledged by then-Prime Minister of Thailand Prayut Chan-o-cha for her contributions to spreading Thai culture globally.
